Dr. Laura Halpin is a graduate of the Royal Veterinary College, University of London, England.  This is the oldest and largest veterinary school in the UK and is accredited by the American Veterinary and Medical Association. She is originally from Wales, but has traveled extensively throughout her life, living in the UK, USA and the Middle East. 

She is a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and the American Veterinary Medical Association.  She will soon be pursuing advanced certification in small animal internal medicine, which will be completed concurrently with her work at Friendship Hospital for Animals.  Her professional interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, emergency medicine and the human-animal bond.

Dr. Halpin shares her life with a 2-year-old Goldendoodle called Lucy, who was adopted just before her first birthday.  Lucy has a passion for squeaky balls and is always eager to play catch!  Dr. Halpin grew up around horses and she hopes to bring her horse, Murphy, to Colorado in the near future.  Until then, he is munching his way through retirement in Florida with his friend Stu.  The final member of the family is Noddy, a 16-year old cat who has been ruling the roost since he was 8 weeks old.

 Dr. Halpin strongly believes in the power of the human-animal bond. She and Lucy are currently working towards the Canine Good Citizen Award to enable them to visit hospital pediatric wards.  They also support Clown Noses for Cancer, a collaboration that aims to raise awareness and funds for cancer related charities through the philosophy that ‘Laughter is the Best Medicine.’ In her free time, Dr. Halpin enjoys traveling and enjoys the adventures that Colorado has to offer.  She enjoys many outdoor activities including golf, hiking, skiing, horse-riding and mountain-biking. She was a previous member of the Welsh National U16 Women’s Soccer team and still continues to play, albeit a little slower than she used to!

Dr. Halpin and Lucy are excited to join the team at Friendship Hospital for Animals. She looks forward to becoming an active member of the Fort Collins community.
